Case Study: Storefront Fulfillment the Foolproof Way
Getcho is the best way to launch Buy Online, Deliver from Store (BODFS). Learn how retailers use storefronts for same-day delivery without the operational headaches.
Eataly Vino managers were blown away by how much easier Getcho made the busy season – the system works on its own, no failed deliveries, no need to constantly check in, and when they did need to check in, all the information was at their fingertips. It let the team focus on in-store customers.
Getcho is the best way to launch Buy Online, Deliver from Store (BODFS).
BOPIS, ship-from-store, same-day delivery: these are the holy grail.
Brands leverage retail locations to save on shipping costs and deliver faster. It’s a huge advantage over competitors that solely depend on distribution centers and FBA.
Why retailers struggle with ship-from-store and storefront logistics
Why does this strategy still feel like the bleeding edge? Stitch Fix and Zara have been doing it for decades.
It’s because:
- It can be a challenge for retail teams to function like fulfillment teams. Store staff have other responsibilities like sales and returns.
- Inventory is always a challenge and working around imperfections is sometimes more of an art than a science.
- Cutting over from one fulfillment location to 10+ is a risky undertaking. At least, it used to be.
Getcho has helped a diverse set of multi-door retailers overcome all three. From PR Running, a DC-based specialty footwear retailer, to Funny Face Bakery, a New York City bakery, to Clark Street Sports, a sports retailer in Chicago.
Clark Street Sports beats BOPIS

Clark Street Sports is a beloved Chicago retailer with a major brick-and-mortar presence and a major online presence. Built around the Chicago sports scene, Clark’s gets really busy when the Cubs or Bears play.
For a given retailer on a normal day, sales and checkout can compete with online obligations – you know, prepping BOPIS orders, shipping from store etc. Turn up the temperature and it can feel like something’s gotta give.
If Clark’s had a mantra it would be something about never letting the customer down. They’re all about offerings like BOPIS and same-day delivery but fear how these play with major fluctuations:
- What if the store rush clears out that SKU before a BOPIS order could be pulled?
- What if those early-bird BOPIS customers show up before processing and express indignation when it’s not ready?
Getcho helped Clark’s tackle these concerns. Same-day delivery, unlike BOPIS, can be fulfilled from any location, so inventory concerns melt away. Moreover, Getcho offers a powerful allow-list feature: brands and retailers can choose which products to enable – and which to disable – for same-day delivery by tags, variant properties, and inventory buffer rules.
If Clark’s needs to disable BOPIS during a rush, they can still grant customers their “fastest fulfillment option” with same-day delivery. The best part is that couriers, unlike customers, don’t arrive early; Getcho only dispatches a driver when a store fulfills an order, thus letting the stores control arrivals. It sure takes the heat off of BOPIS.
Funny Face Bakery

Funny Face Bakery is a New York City favorite. Locals and tourists alike flock to their locations to grab pop-culture-inspired decorated cookies and delicious gooey cookies.
It’s also an American favorite: customers order their shelf-stable decorated cookies from all over the country.
When Getcho and Funny Face Bakery teamed up, retail and eCommerce were mostly separate. FFB dreamed of using the storefronts to fulfill local NYC orders. But flipping the switch on fulfillment online for the storefronts seemed risky. How could they turn on multistore fulfillment and be sure that loads of online orders wouldn’t suddenly reroute to the busy stores?
With Getcho, Funny Face online orders route to the default Shop location – production. But Getcho intelligently updates fulfillment for orders best served from Manhattan (production is in Brooklyn). Like Clark Street Sports, Funny Face uses Getcho’s allow-list feature to dictate which carts can be sent to stores and when.
Getting onto Getcho was one of the best decisions we made in 2025 – it freed up our production team since local delivery orders now route to the stores.

PR Running

If you live in America’s capital and can run a 3-hour marathon, then you know about PR Running. Over decades they’ve earned a reputation as the top experts in running gear.
Like many specialty footwear stores, PR Running uses RICS, the ERP system designed for many combinations of shoe sizes and colors.
Ship from store, BOPIS and same-day delivery just weren’t possible for PR because Shopify inventory counts don’t easily read from RICS.
Getcho’s inventory bridge maps RICS stores to Shopify stores, and boom, they had store-level fulfillment. This allowed PR Running to launch BOPIS and then same-day delivery. Delighted management plans to launch “ship from a nearby store” for in-store shoppers this quarter.
SKU expanse is a challenge in footwear. How often does a customer come looking for a model to find that size 12 is at some other location? With Getcho, PR Running can leverage inventory across all their doors and make their aisles feel endless.
