Proximity is an advantage. eCommerce brands do proportionally more order volume where they have a retail presence.

  • City Man USA, for example, does more orders in the Detroit market than their out-of-state competitors
  • Getcho partners in the NYC market sometimes do 30-40% of their orders in New York, New York — more than 3x higher than outsider brands

The “homefield effect” usually applies within a small radius of a storefront. Getcho helps partners capture more orders by expanding the radius by orders of magnitude.

The Challenge

The median BOPIS customer lives within 3 miles of the pick-up location. Even in the densest areas, it’s hard to position a storefront within 3 miles of that many people. How can a brand reap more from stores and production centers?

Take Ninja Transfers. Their facility sits north of Philadelphia, only 15 minutes away from the New Jersey border. They could already technically boast that BOPIS customers come from out of state.

Even so, a customer probably won’t make a two hour drive from places like New York City, Maryland, or East New Jersey. And in the DTF business, you can’t just sprout up new locations.

The Solution

Getcho and Ninja Transfers launched a 120-mile same-day delivery range, enveloping New York City, northern Maryland and everything in between.

Launch was shockingly easy; Getcho’s Shopify plugin automatically adds courier delivery for carts within a predefined radius, on a dynamic set of products. It works perfectly on its own, or alongside plugins like Advanced Shipping Rules, custom OMSs, you name it.

After launch, we immediately started seeing daily orders from every corner of the new range. What’s more: these customers retain better – it’s common to see two orders from the same customer within one day. Plus same-day customers have a bigger AOV.

The Results

  • Launching “Northeast Same Day Delivery” required no set-up
  • The new shipping rate is comparable to the slower “next-day delivery”
  • Customer retention is 2x higher than for standard expedited shipping
  • Business customers especially took to using same-day delivery frequently
  • Fridays are particularly popular days for Same Day Delivery as customers look to receive orders before the weekend

Ninja Transfers uses Getcho to expand reach, meet urgent demand, and increase sales from nearby customers without making delivery something the team has to manage.
